We are looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Embedded Software Engineer with expert skills in the area of Embedded Linux to join our next generation project within the R&D department in Malmö. Preferably you also have solid experience within embedded security, secure boot processes, secure firmware upgrades, firmware signing and other related subjects.

You’ll work closely with development teams, product owners and other stakeholders. With innovation and quality in mind, you’ll drive the customer experience of Verisure’s alarm and smart home solutions forward. You will be part of our Product Software and Alarm chain team.

Job Purpose
This role includes software design and development, and debugging of Linux software. The primary focus is Linux platform level software. You will work with various internal cross-functional teams as well as third party OEMs designing, developing and guiding on new power optimized features.

More than a profound understanding of different technologies within Embedded Systems you must also have good social skills and really like to work together with others in creating and designing solutions.

The role of the Expert in Embedded Linux will be located at our R&D Center in Malmö, Sweden. As we are a global company with multiple R&D centers and suppliers worldwide, some travel may be required.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, implement and drive new features running on low power Embedded Linux platforms.
• Debug and Fix complex problems involving multiple modules from user space, kernel space as well as low level hardware issues.
• Analysis of system requirements and break down into implementation requirement and other work tasks
• Writing and integrating code as well as performing test/verification of the developed functionality
• Preparation and release/launch of new functionality

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an engineer working with Software engineering design principals and development
• Expert skills in software development in Embedded Linux Environment
• Experience with Linux kernel debug tools and JTAG
• Knowledge of structured design, embedded real-time systems, and hardware/software interfacing
• Good analytical skills
• Experience in agile methodology
• Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong / Expert skills in the area of Embedded Linux security
• Experience in secure boot processes, secure firmware upgrades and firmware signing
• Experience in Java programming
• Experience using git for development; patch/tree management
